Because award shows should be entertaining...

Ok gang I am long overdue for an awards post around these parts, so hang tight and let me have my peace, OK?  OK!

Sarah over at Hippie Mommie gave me

cherryontop

With accepting this award, you are supposed to list 3 things that you love about yourself, and then pass it on to 5 more bloggers who bring a "little bit extra" to the table.

Susan over at Coffee Slut gifted me with

award_Brandi

The rules for acceptance of this award are really simple:
*Thank the blogger who bestowed the Award on you.
*Sum up your blogging experience, philosophy and motivation in 5 words.
*Pass the award on to 10 deserving bloggers.

AND Susan also decided I was cool enough for

VersatileBloggerAward

along with Chelsea over at In A Yellow House.

The rules for accepting this award:
1. Thank the blogger who gave it to you.
2. List 7 things that people may not know about you.
3. Pass the love to deserving bloggers (They say 15)
4. And let then know that you have presented them the award.

So that’s the low down.  You don’t need to remember all the details behind each award, but you DO DO DO need to be aware of how super amazing each of the bloggers who gave me these awards are. Take a minute to go visit them and see what I mean.
Thanks so much for these awards, gals- you are all top dog in my book!

Let's see...

Something I love about myself is my willingness to try new things, things LIKE Go Girl.  The results are in and seriously, the device was a life saver. Picture it: car full of dogs and a sleeping child.  City roads, Mama has to GO.  Pull in to a parking lot, scrounge up the empty plastic milk jug and…
back on the road in 2 minutes flat, no indecent exposure and a very happy bladder.

Also?  I tried something new and met up with two wonderful bloggy friends IN REAL LIFE!

LTC

Colleen (the cute blonde in the picture) was one of the very first bloggers I became friends with in this wide, Internet world.  I find her writing style over at “As is Proper” to be hilarious (seriously, you’re a riot, Colleen) and her photography is wicked good.  Go see for yourself!
Then I come to cyber meet (that sounds creepy) her adorable sister, Leslie (the long curly haired lovely in the picture- so jealous of those locks) through her blog “Fluff and Nonsense”.  Leslie’s blog is like Leslie herself- full of warmth, joyfulness and a love of her family (she has a new family member on the way- how exciting!).  She also has a killer crafty streak, posting project after project for me to drool over.
Fast forward to one recent summer afternoon where Bear and I were able to meet up with these great gals along with their families.

Oh what fun we had!!!!

center of attention

Bear basked in attention and I was giddy with the reality that I was really meeting Colleen and Leslie in real life!! No WAY!
They were so super fun and friendly to hang out with that I didn’t want the afternoon to end (I’m still sore you two didn’t take Bear and I with you on vacation.  Hmph.).   It was surreal to me that I could feel so connected with people I’ve only ever conversed with online.
And as if that wasn’t so over the rainbow enough, just look at what Leslie gifted me with

Leslie's table runner

See?  She’s a craft genius and I am blown away that she would make such a delicious creation for me.  It is truly stunning with it’s colors and patterns and birds!  How did she even know the strange focus birds have been having in my life recently?!
The quilted runner currently holds a place of honor on my table reminding me of such a crazy, wonderful opportunity we were given.
Leslie and Colleen I am head over heels for the both of you!  Let’s do lunch again soon ;)

Within the same week of this meet-up, I won this stunning green organza flower pin-

my pin

from Chelsea over at “In A Yellow House”.  It was made by Leah over at her Etsy “Shop Leah” site.  Go to her site and I dare you to leave without ordering something- the stuff is that dreamy!
Thanks so much Chelsea and Leah, I promise to post a picture of me wearing my beautiful winnings soon!
*****************************************************

I LOVE LOVE LOVE yard sales and Thrift Shops.  Oh, I’ve already mentioned that here?  Well how about I show you my most recent find while Trot poses with his newly UNCASTED leg

iron and tendons
********************************************************

Remember when I told you my Joss Stone story?
I now have closure.
During that very same trip I was trying out my Go Girl, I took a break from all I needed to be doing to visit my family.  Right before I climbed back into my car, my Mom passed me a small package
I wanted to mail this to you, but since you’re here you should take it for the trip back.  You silly girl foiled my Post Office surprise since I love you and I want you to have it now.”
curious, I opened the package

joss stone cd

it was the  Joss Stone CD I had on my “things to be on the lookout for” list.  My Mom, the one who doesn’t get along so well with computers (I take after her) and never had heard of Joss Stone,  made it her mission to get to my blog, read the post and hunt down the CD.  It’s fair to say that now I will never ever listen to Joss Stone the same way.

So to sum it up- I’m a try new things, love making new friends, finding great deals, wearing vibrant, beautiful accessories kind of girl whose loving Mother continues to teach her that the world holds charming surprises around every corner.

I'm the MOM of those 2 beautiful new friends of yours!! I was just reading your comment on Colleen's page so I had to see what you were talking about. Of course, I love your post...all of it. I especially love the picture of the 3 of you! I don't have a good current one of those 2. Thanks for sharing TJ and congrats on all your awards.

What a great post. The bird quilt thing, well, that is just a-MAZ-ing. How fun you got to meet 2 bloggers IRL and they weren't even perverted serial killers. What luck!
Get better Trot. You need to make chicken fried steak in that fantastic cast iron skillet. I adore to cook in cast iron. Have fun.

Big smiles, big smiles!!!!!!

I love your picture so much better than any of the pics I got of all of us. It was an amazing little meet-up that we had and the only bad thing was saying good-bye. Now, if only I had room in my clown car, I most certainly would have loved to bring you and Bear along with us on vacation. :)

I could go on and on about how much fun we had, but I do need to save something for my own blog post.

You know... I had totally intended to ask you about the Go Girl while we were together, but there were children and husbands around and then I got sidetracked with all the other fun conversations we had.

You know how I feel about you and you totally deserve these awards! I'm glad you met up with some bloggy friends. I love that! I was scared the first time but after that...it's just been great!

Thank you so much for passing the awards on to me. I'm honored!!!!

PS. I got a cast iron pan at a garage sale a few years ago...best deal ever!
